Develon: the new name for Doosan construction equipment

Develon is the construction equipment brand of HD Hyundai Infracore, the company formerly known as Doosan Infracore. When HD Hyundai acquired Doosan Infracore in 2021, the machines kept the Doosan name for a transition period; in 2023 they were rebranded DEVELON. The orange paint stayed, and so did the engineering.

History

The business traces its roots to Chosun Machine Works, founded in Incheon in 1937. It began making excavators in the 1970s under the Daewoo name, became Doosan Infracore in 2005 and grew into one of Korea's two big excavator makers alongside Hyundai. Doosan also bought the Norwegian articulated hauler maker Moxy in 2008, which is why Develon builds ADTs in Norway.

Note that Bobcat is a separate company (Doosan Bobcat) and was not part of the sale to HD Hyundai.

Buying advice

Develon machines are typically priced below Japanese and American rivals with generous standard equipment. On the used market you will see both Doosan and Develon badges; parts and service come from the same dealer network.
