Overview

The Liebherr L 566 XPower is a large-medium wheel loader with Liebherr's XPower power-split drive. Liebherr builds the engine, axles and drivetrain itself.

How XPower works

Power flows through two paths: a hydrostatic path that dominates at low speeds (ideal for digging and short cycles) and a mechanical path that takes over at higher speeds (ideal for load-and-carry). Both are combined continuously, with no gear changes. Liebherr reports fuel savings of up to around 30% compared with conventional drives in some applications.

Design

The engine is mounted transversely at the rear, acting as a counterweight and giving easy access for service. The Z-bar or industrial linkage can be specified.

Who it suits

Quarries and aggregate producers with high fuel bills, and anyone doing a mix of loading and carrying.
