How often do you really change hydraulic oil?

Manufacturer intervals for hydraulic oil vary widely, from 2,000 hours on some older machines to 5,000 hours or more on modern ones, especially with the manufacturer's own long-life oil and regular oil analysis.

Our recommendation: follow the manual, but let oil analysis guide you. Sample every 500 hours. If particle counts, water content, viscosity and wear metals stay within limits, many fleets safely extend intervals. If you run a hydraulic breaker a lot, oil degrades faster and you may need to shorten intervals.

See the full maintenance schedule.

What interval does your fleet use, and do you sample?
