Overview

The Hitachi ZX210LC-7 (Zaxis 210LC-7) is the latest version of one of the world's best-selling medium excavators. Hitachi has a long reputation for building reliable excavators with exceptionally smooth hydraulics, and the -7 generation focuses on lower fuel consumption, a refreshed cab and better connectivity.

Hydraulics and performance

Hitachi's TRIAS hydraulic system recycles oil flow between functions and reduces losses, which helps both fuel efficiency and controllability. Operators frequently say Hitachi excavators feel the most "connected" of any brand, especially when grading or placing loads. The four-cylinder Isuzu 4HK1 engine is a proven unit used across Hitachi and other brands.

Ownership

ConSite telematics sends monthly reports and alerts, including oil-level and hydraulic warnings. Service points are grouped for easy access. Used Zaxis machines are highly valued in Europe, Asia and Africa, and many reach well beyond 15,000 hours.

Who it suits

Contractors who value reliability, smooth operation and resale value. In North America, check the local Hitachi dealer network, which has been rebuilt since the end of the joint venture with John Deere in 2022.

Alternatives

The Komatsu PC210LC-11 and Caterpillar 320 are the obvious comparisons; the Case CX210E shares a Japanese engineering approach.
