Overview

In 2021 Komatsu re-engineered the D475A-8; EquipmentWorld headlined it as "designed for twice the life". The machine is Komatsu's answer to the Cat D11 in large open-pit mines. Like other large dozers, it delivers more power in reverse than forward to speed up the return trip.

The Komatsu dozer range at a glance

Komatsu uses hydrostatic transmissions on its small and mid-size dozers and its TORQFLOW torque-converter powershift on larger machines. Many current models use the PLUS (Parallel Link Undercarriage System) with rotating bushings, which Komatsu says lasts up to twice as long as a conventional undercarriage.
