Overview

The Komatsu D65EX-18 is the medium-class dozer in Komatsu's lineup and a direct rival to the Cat D6. The EX denotes the standard undercarriage; WX and PX (wide and LGP) versions are also available.

The Sigmadozer blade

Komatsu's Sigmadozer has a curved centre section that digs into the material and rolls it forward, reducing spillage and letting the dozer carry a larger load. Komatsu says it can increase productivity substantially compared with a conventional SU blade in many applications.

Drivetrain

An automatic transmission with a lock-up torque converter shifts gears for the operator and locks up for direct drive when pushing, improving fuel efficiency. Steering is hydrostatic for smooth turns under load.

Intelligent machine control

The D65EXi-18 adds Komatsu's iMC 2.0, which automatically controls blade load from rough dozing to finish grading and includes features like lift-layer control and tilt steering control.

Who it suits

Contractors focused on high-production dozing and road building who value fuel efficiency and Komatsu's strong dealer support.
