Overview
The 950 has been one of Caterpillar's most important loaders since 1965. The 950 GC ("General Construction") was introduced to give price-sensitive customers a solid, reliable loader based on proven 950 components but with fewer options. It is widely used in aggregates yards, construction sites, waste transfer stations and municipalities.
Design
The 950 GC uses a Z-bar linkage for strong breakout force, a planetary powershift transmission and a Cat C7.1 engine. Cat offers a range of general-purpose, material-handling and light-material buckets, plus a fusion coupler for quick attachment changes.
Who it suits
Contractors, yards and municipalities that need a dependable 950-size loader at a lower price, and who load trucks or move material a few thousand hours per year.
