Overview

The Bobcat E35 is a 3.5-tonne class compact excavator with a zero tail swing house. It has been one of Bobcat's best-selling excavators for years and is widely available to rent. The current R2-Series version brought a refreshed cab, improved controllability and updated emissions systems.

Why zero tail swing matters

Because the rear of the house never extends beyond the tracks, the operator can rotate freely next to a wall, fence or lane of traffic without watching the counterweight. That makes the E35 a natural choice for urban utility work, house extensions and landscaping in tight gardens.

Performance

Bobcat's in-track swing frame keeps the boom swing cylinder protected and gives good digging forces for the class. The engine is sized for efficiency rather than raw power, which is fine for digging but can feel stretched with large hydraulic attachments. Auto-shift travel and an optional long arm add versatility.

Who it suits

Contractors and landscapers who work in confined spaces, and buyers who already use Bobcat loaders and attachments.

Alternatives

Compare with the SANY SY35U for value, or step up to the Kubota KX040-4 for more digging capacity.
